Chapter 2: God's choices

God's purposes for His universe are righteous and eternal. He accomplishes them on earth through humans that are chosen and guided by Him... Discerning God's will and agreeing to obey it is important to everyone. .. Having respect for God's choices means choosing to be on God's side. When God chose to send His Son into the world as His means of salvation, those who accepted Him were saved, and those who rejected Him lost everything. Having a relationship with God means learning to love what He loves and learning to choose what He chooses.

Chapter 6: The Identity and Destiny of I****

God makes choices, and we must choose to be in agreement with His will. Often God will choose others for blessing, and we may feel abandoned for a season. So often when others are honored, we feel dishonored in comparison. When painful things happen in our lives, we may think that God is choosing to ignore us. ... If we join with Jesus and come before God “in Him”, we will find the ultimate acceptance and healing of our rejected hearts. God's own sovereign choices often result in someone being rejected. However, God has provided for every person to be accepted and fully healed through His own Son, Jesus.

Reconciliation of Brothers
In the biblical narrative, Jacob and Esau meet again many years later. After Jacob fled from his brother's wrath, the day came when he could no longer avoid facing his older sibling. However, Jacob had been changed by his years of labor and by wrestling with God Also, something had happened in Esau's heart during the intervening years. Esau had been transformed into a man at peace with his brother by a work of God's grace.

Genesis 33: 1-10
“But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.”

But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother, keep what you have for yourself”

These passages in Genesis depict a humble Jacob and an Esau whose hatred and anger have been miraculously wiped away. Esau says, “I have enough, my brother.” His heart has been satisfied and his bitterness at the loss of his birthright is gone. He embraces his brother with love and kindness.

Chapter 7: Tsunami!
The gospel saturated the Greek-speaking world and followed the Romans roads to the hub of the empire. In Rome, Christianity flourished and came into conflict with the official cult of emperor worship. For more than two centuries, the gospel fought a life and death battle with Roman culture.

In the end, Rome weakened and fell, while the true believers in Jesus, both Jews and Gentiles stood strong. Rome became the victim of attacks by less civilized peoples from the north...They were pagan peoples with their own mythologies and systems of primitive nature worship. History shows that they were gradually transformed by the Christian faith. These 'barbarians' were the ancestors of the very civilized Swiss, Dutch, French and Germans of today. The miracle of Christian Europe is that the local people began to believe the gospel that was totally foreign to them. ... Christianity moved like a tidal wave across the continent, transforming whole nations and sinking down into the roots of European culture.

The American Age
Eventually, the success of Christianity in Europe became its own limiting factor. ... Believers like the Puritans, Quakers, Mennonites, Huguenots, and early Baptists searched for a place where they would be free to worship God and practice their religion according to their understanding of the Bible. ... Moving further westward, the gospel eventually overflowed the banks of the Old World and came to the New World of American frontier. America was a harsh and underdeveloped land. It took great commitment and sacrifice to settle there.

In their research, they uncovered journals written by Christopher Columbus in which he wrote about his conviction that the “Almight had singled out him, of all the men of his age, for the honor of bearing the Light of Christ to a new world!” According to Marshall and Manuel, the Puritans who came later from England were filled with a sense of godly destiny, and they believed they had a mandate to build a “new Jerusalem” or a model of God's kingdom in North America.

Later the United States Constitution was drafted on a foundation strongly influenced by the Bible that further protected American freedoms.

In a relatively short time, the United States became the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth. .. Scientific inventions produced by Americans include the electric light bulb, the phonograph, the telegraph, and the telphone, the airplane, the personal computer and the Internet, radio, television, radar, sonar, fiber optics, satellite communications, stealth aircraft, and the cruise missile. Americans were among the pioneers of genetic science and nuclear energy (and weapons) development.

Today, however, America desperately need a fresh touch from God.

Peter carried on to explain where he thinks God's Tsunami is now heading to: Africa, and nations of Asia (highlighting China specifically). For political reasons, it's not wise for me to quote him here. Do get his book and read up. It's exciting to know where God's heart beat next :)
